Underlining a genuine G1 pedigree, RIOS is a half-brother to the AJC Derby winner and Caulfield Cup runner-up ROMAN EMPEROR. His dam is a half-sister to USA G1 winner BLACK MAMBA and hails from the family of Australasian Oaks winner TULLY THUNDER and VRC Oaks winner SANDERAE.

HUSSONET, seven-time champion sire of 87 stakes winners, injects immense G1 flavour. His 28 individual G1 winners across five different countries include AUSTRALIAN HORSE OF THE YEAR WEEKEND HUSSLER (G1 x 7), A GOLD TRAIL, EAGLE FALLS and REAAN.

RIOS inherited this G1 ability, proving himself as a high quality three-year-old by defeating the Australian G1 winner ALAMOSA in the Wellington Guineas – a race also won by G1 sires DARCI BRAHMA, BALMERINO and VICE REGAL.

Also at three, RIOS won the ARC Bonecrusher Stakes, and placed amongst the best of his generation in the G1 NZ Two Thousand Guineas and G2 STC Tulloch Stakes at Rosehill.

RIOS completed his six-strong race record at four with Listed success over 1600m.

The handsome entire’s first full crop of yearlngs in 2013 met strong breeder approval, impressing onlookers with their strength and athletic qualities.
