Pins In Demand At Sydney (April 9 2010)

Pins led a strong final day of selling for WS at the Sydney Easter Sale when the prolific stallion's son out of the outstanding broodmare Escada realised $A350,000. The half-brother to Gr 1 winners Vision And Power (Doncaster Handicap, George Ryder Stakes) and Glamour Puss (Salinger Stakes, Goodwood Handicap) attracted plenty of admirers and was finally knocked down to the Shadwell Stud thoroughbred empire.

Two lots later Singapore interests weighed in with $A160,000 for the Pins colt out of the Listed Marton Cup-winning Zabeel mare Etoile Du Nord from a family with plenty of international Group credits. A half-brother by the Snippets stallion to Listed Waikato Sprint winner Tootsie was claimed by Melbourne trainer Colin Little for $A110,000 while the colt out of multiple winner Fiaba went to long-time WS supporter Graeme Rogerson for $A90,000.

The high-profile trainer, owner and breeder also signed for a half-brother by Savabeel to the WS-bred dual Gr 1 winner Metal Bender (Randwick, Rosehill Guineas), who returns from injury in tomorrow's TJ Smith Stakes at Randwick, for $A110,000. Savabeel's other colt, a half-brother to Listed NZ St Leger winner Ritzy Lady, was purchased by Sydney veternarian Tim Roberts. The O'Reilly colt, a brother to Gr 3 Thoroughbred Stakes winner Splashing Out was snapped up by leading trainer Danny O'Brien for $A100,000.
