Sweet Successes For Savabeel (February
8 2010)
Cox Plate winner Savabeel struck twice in the space
of four days Central Districts with a winning double
from a pair of well-related daughters. The WS-bred and
raced Promenade opened her account in good style at
Wanganui while Triple Treat earned herself a crack at
the best fillies around with an impressive debut victory
at Tauherenikau.
A $70,000 yearling, Triple Treat is out of the winning
Green Perfume mare Swan Lake who is a half-sister to
Gr 1 New Zealand Derby winner Hades (Helene Vitality
HK). She was broken in at Willow Farm, who were impressed
by the filly's attitude and talent from the outset,
and is prepared from the property by Aaron Tata.
"Aaron and I run the business and break-in and
pre-train and Aaron holds the licence," Danny Walker
said. "Right from day one she's showed a lot and
is a real professional and just bombproof. She won at
the trials and we were very confident with her."
Triple Treat, who is raced by an Australian syndicate,
will make her next appearance in the Gr 2 Matamata Breeders'
Stakes on February 27. "That's the plan with her
and she'll get a lot further with time and she looks
a good type for the future."
Promenade is a half-sister to Gr 1 winners Legs (NZ
Oaks, Kelt Capital Stakes) and Guyno (WATC Derby out
of WS's broodmare gem River Century who is a half-sister
to dual Gr 2 winner Arletty (Villiers Stakes, Queen
of the Turf Stakes). It is a family littered with top-notch
performers, including Sixty Seconds (Gr 1 Arrowfield
Stud Stakes). Promenade was making just her fifth appearance
when she powered home from well back to dead-heat for
first over 1600 metres.
