WS Sires In Demand On Gold Coast (January 7 2010)

WS stallions were to the fore during the opening session of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale yesterday. The first colt by O'Reilly into the ring was the subject of spirited bidding while two sons of Pins also attracted widespread attention.

The O'Reilly youngster was offered by Nathan Tinkler's Patinack Farm and was eventually knocked down to the Hong Kong Jockey Club for $250,000. He is the first foal of the Easy Rocking mare Boudi Woudi, who won two races including, appropriately, the Listed Waikato Stud Stakes at Wanganui and was Gr 3 placed in the Gold Trail Stakes at Hastings.

Both the Pins' colts sold for $100,000 with Guy Mulcaster signing for the son of Bethpage, a New Zealand-bred daughter of Flying Spur, presented by Kitchwin Hills. She was a winner and is a half-sister to Gr 3 Waikato Guineas winner Blimey O'Reilly and Macau Guineas and Gold Cup winner Strategy.

Queensland buyer Grant Morgan secured the other Pins colt out of the Listed Dark Jewel Classic winner Chuckle from Glastonbury Farm's draft. The youngster is a half-brother to Karaka Million contender and recent Ellerslie winner Hoofit from the family of Gr 1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Reward For Effort.
