Double Delight For WS (April 6 2010)
A trans-Tasman Easter Monday double gave WS a pair of
closely-related home-bred winners to celebrate on the
eve of the Inglis Sale in Sydney. The exciting High
Command continued his impressive progress when dominant
at Ellerslie while Legsman's excellent run of form stretched
to another victory at Canterbury.
The four-year-old High Command sat outside the leader
before taking control into the straight and kicked away
to score with ease. He has now won two of his five starts
for Cambridge trainer Stephen Marsh and looks destined
to make his mark in much better company.
Raced by Ascot Farm's Bruce and Maureen Harvey, High
Command was bred by Garry Chittick and was a $100,000
Ready to Run Sale purchase in 2007. He is by Pins out
of the winning Centaine mare Slightly Aloof and is a
close relation to recent stakes winner Sharp Princess.
Slightly Aloof is a sister to the six-time Gr 1 winning
WS graduate Slight Chance, who has in turn left Gr 3
winners Salgado and Group-producing sire Dane Shadow.
Legsman, a full brother in blood to High Command was
a $105,000 Karaka purchase for trainer John O'Shea,
is the winner of his last two races. He has an overall
record of three wins and five placings from 11 appearances.
Also by Pins, he is a brother or half-brother to five
winners, including the Gr 2 performed Prickle (Pins),
and is is out Slight Chance's sister Snobbish.
