Top Family To Fore Again (April 4
2010)
One of Australasia's most decorated families enjoyed
further honours at the weekend when Escadaire added
the Listed Miss Andretti Stakes to their lengthy roll
of honour. The WS-bred and sold performer is out of
Escada and a half-brother to Gr 1 winners Vision And
Power (Doncaster Handicap, George Ryder Stakes) and
Glamour Puss (Salinger Stakes, Goodwood Handicap).
Escada, also the dam of Gr 2 Stan Fox Stakes winner
Rare Insight, will this week be represented by a Pins
colt - Lot 407 - in WS's consignment to the Sydney Easter
Sale. The Matamata farm is the only vendor to feature
two mares who have each produced two individual Gr 1
winners. The other is River Century, who is the dam
of Legs (NZ Oaks, Kelt Capital Stakes) and Guyno (WATC
Derby) and Lot 128 is her colt by O'Reilly.
Resident WS stallion Pins also enjoyed a winning double
on Saturday at Awapuni where Regal Ruler and Pinzee
triumphed. The former has responded in fine style to
his change of environment and now has two wins from
three appearances since transferring to Wayne Marshment's
Wanganui stable.
The chestnut is raced by Marshment and Steve Baron who
bought the gelding for $6000 at the 2006 Select Sale
at Karaka and prepared him for eight minor placings
before sending him south. A half-brother to four winners,
Regal Ruler is out of the Gr 3 Ladies' Mile winner Orange
Walk who is a half-sister to the Listed Newmarket Handicap
winner Monarch Prince.
Four-year-old mare Pinzee has been in outstanding form
his preparation with three wins and three placings from
her last six appearances for trainer Bob Autridge. Pinzee
is now a six-time winner to match the record of her
dam Cheeky Baby, who was also prepared by Autridge.
