WS Stallions' Popularity Continues
(March 4 2010)
A daughter of O'Reilly from the prolific Belle family
was the subject of spirited bidding on the third day
of the Inglis Premier Sale in Melbourne. She was eventually
knocked down to prominent West Australian bloodstock
agent John Chalmers for $A150,000.
The filly was offered by Cambridge's Esker Lodge and
is out of the unraced Centaine mare Stellar Genes. She
is a grand-daughter of the former champion three-year-old
Star Belle (NZ Oaks, Great Northern Derby, Great Northern
St Leger, Great Northern Guineas, Craiglee Stakes, Turnbull
Stakes). It is a family that numbers Group winners Melody
Belle, Kashmir Belle, Tri Belle, Honey Belle, Shannon
Belle and Delightful Belle among its prolific ranks.
Champion WS stallion and Centaine Award frontrunner
O'Reilly's progeny have averaged more than $115,000
at the Melbourne sale while associate sire Pins, who
currently heads the New Zealand and Singapore premierships,
has averaged more than $104,000.
