Rogerson Snares Another By WS Champ (February
4 2010)
Champion sire O'Reilly has enjoyed another outstanding
sale at Karaka and he was again to the fore for WS on
the second day of the Select Session. His colt out of
the Gr 3 performed mare Activate, a daughter of the
Matamata farm's former resident and multiple Gr 1 winner
Kinjite, realised $115,000.
He was signed for by Graeme Rogerson who had parted
with $270,000 on Wednesday for a pair of O'Reilly colts.
His latest acquisition is from the family of Gr 2 Sha
Tin Vase winner Astimonti and Gr 3 Summer Cup winner
Zanetta (Centaine).
Successful Awapuni trainer Lisa Latta took a serious
liking to a daughter of Savabeel and saw it through
with a final bid of $60,000. She is out of the Pompeii
Court mare Two Time Tart, who won six times, and Gr
1 winners Saint Cecile (NZ Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes)
and Pompeii Pearl (Manawatu Sires' Produce Stakes) stand
out on her pedigree page.
The stock of Pins have been in huge demand at Karaka
and his son out of The Big Storm was knocked down for
$28,000. He is out of the O'Reilly mare The Big Storm
who is a half-sister to the Gr 2 Championship Stakes
winner Ellakapella with Gr 1 South Australian Derby
winner Sir Zephyr and the talented but ill-fated Listed
Wanganui Guineas winner Warrentherooster within the
family ranks.
