Take The Rap's Half Brother At Karaka (January 30 2010)

WS's Savabeel colt out of the Volksraad mare Aroon received a Gr 3 boost in the countdown to selling at Karaka. Lot 275 in the Premier Sale is a half-brother to Take The Rap (No Excuse Needed) who won Saturday's C S Hayes Stakes at Flemington.

The three-year-old had finished runner-up, but subsequently relegated to third, at his previous appearance and made no mistake in the 1400 metre age group feature. Trained by Danny O'Brien, the colt came with a well-timed run under rider Craig Williams for a handsome victory.

A previous winner and stakes placegetter, Take The Rap was purchased by O'Brien from WS's 2008 Premier Sale consignment for $135,000. He hails from a classic WS family with his dam Aroon a winning three-quarter sister to Gr 1 winner Critic and from half-sister to multiple Gr 1 winner and champion sire O'Reilly.
