Miss Savabeel Sizzles On Debut (July
2 2010)
A debut win at Wyong yesterday stamped WS graduate Miss
Savabeel as a filly with a bright future for leading
trainer John O'Shea. The two-year-old showed the benefit
of two preparatory trials when she got home in fine
style over 1200 metres under top jockey Corey Brown.
The 39th winner from resident sire Savabeel's first
two crops, she is from the winning Flying Spur mare
Lightning Spur who is owned by Garry Chittick's daughter
Celia and her husband Phillip Crawshaw. She is a out
of the black-type winner Cloister (Debutante Stakes)
from the family oflast Saturday's Group 1 winner Melito,
along with Gr 1 winners Zeditave and Greys Inn.
Lightning Spur has a Savabeel filly likely to be offered
next year and she is currently in foal to WS's champion
resident O'Reilly. Miss Savabeel was purchased by O'Shea
for $100,000 from the Matamata farm's Premier Sale draft
to last year's National Yearling Sale.
