Champion Trainer Buys O'Reilly Colt (March
2 2010)
The Gai Waterhouse camp set their sights on a son of
O'Reilly on the opening day of the Inglis Premier Yearling
Sale in Melbourne yesterday and went to $A170,000 to
secure the colt. A half-brother to multiple winner Red
Hot Chilli, he hails from the family of the WS-bred
Gr 1 Patinack Classic winner Swick and the Gr 1 Western
Australian Oaks winner Cologne.
The youngster was offered by Grange Thoroughbreds and
was signed for by Denise Martin's syndication company
Star Thoroughbreds. All their purchases are selected
and prepared by Hall Of Fame trainer Waterhouse from
her legendary Tulloch Lodge base in Sydney.
Meanwhile, fellow WS stallion Pins made an early impact
at the sale when New South Wales-based bloodstock agent
Vin Cox went to $A150,000 for his daughter out of the
Listed Crocket Stakes winning Blevic mare Bleveeka.
Presented by Kambula Stud, the filly also boasts Gr
1 Blue Diamond Stakes winner Reward For Effort on her
pedigree page.
