Emotions Run High For Savabeel (February 28 2010)

Top filly My Emotion earned WS stallion Savabeel another stakes success on Friday night when she charged to victory in the Gr 2 Moonee Valley Fillies' Classic. Perfectly ridden by Craig Williams, she closed on the leaders with 600 metres to run and proved too good in the straight for the third victory of her brief career.

She credited Savabeel, whose career highlight was his trumping of the older horses in the Gr 1 Cox Plate as a three-year-old, with his initial black-type success when she won the Gr 3 Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes on debut last year. The regally-bred son of Zabeel is also the sire of Listed Northland Breeders' Stakes winner Queen Sabeel and Listed Wanganui Guineas winner Warrentherooster whose career was prematurely ended by a fatal injury.

My Emotion is trained by Mick Kent who said the filly would now be set for the Gr 1 Australasian Oaks at Morphetiville on March 20. A $A230,000 Magic Millions yearling purchase, she is the second foal of the Rory's Jester mare Midnight Rock who is a half-sister to Aloha, the third placegetter in the Fillies' Classic behind My Emotion.

They are both out of the stakes-winning Danehill mare Tennessee Midnight, a daughter of Gr 2 Maribyrnong Plate winner Tennessee Morn. The daughter of Bletchingly is out of the multiple Gr 2 winner Tennessee Vain, who also finished runner-up in the Gr 1 VRC Oaks, and a sister to stakes winner Tennessee Mist and Tennessee Magic, the dam in turn of Gr 2 Light Fingers Stakes winner Trezevant.
