Justanexcuse capped off a run of placings with a dominant
victory on his home track on Saturday for the third
success of his promising career. The son of the in-form
WS sire No Excuse Needed had finished in the money in
his four previous starts for trainer Lisa Latta.
The three-year-old sat at the back of the field before
improving near the turn and challenged 200 metres from
home. He quickly put the issue beyond doubt under regular
partner Kelly Myers and cruised home to score by a length
and a-half.
Justanexcuse was a dual winner last season and placed
in the Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes and his consistency
this term has included a fourth place finish in the
Gr 2 Wellington Guineas. A $105,000 yearling from WS's
2008 Premier Sale draft at Karaka, he is a half-brother
to Listed Feilding Gold Cup winner On Call from the
family of stakes winners Gentle Call (Gr 3 Lowland Stakes)
and Call Spades and Tough Call (both Listed Cambridge
Breeders' Stakes winners).
