Brampton Headed For The Top (May 21
2010)
The well-related Brampton looks a three-year-old destined
to make his mark in good company after coasting to victory
at Bendigo. The WS-bred and sold son of Pins had finished
runner-up on debut earlier in the month and had no trouble
going one better yesterday.
He has overcome an eventful start to his life after
illness forced his withdrawal from the 2008 Premier
Sale at Karaka. He was subsequently entered in the Sydney
Easter Sale where he was claimed for $A300,000 by Nick
Williams, son of high-profile Melbourne owner Lloyd,
and is prepared at Macedon Lodge by private trainer
Robert Hickmott.
Brampton is out of the Defensive Play mare Playful Fingers
who was the dual black-type winner of the Champagne
Stakes and, appropriately, the Waikato Stud Wanganui
Stakes. Her pedigree also features WS graduate Hancock
Park (Pompeii Court) who was a Gr 3 winner and Gr 1
placed in South Africa.
