In-form jockey Kerrin McEvoy has been booked to ride
the WS-bred star Metal Bender in Saturday's Gr 1 Doomben
Cup. McEvoy has been in great form in recent weeks with
eight winners at the last three Saturday metropolitan
meetings in Sydney.
Hugh Bowman rode Metal Bender to a last-start victory
in the Gr 2 Hollindale Cup, but is currently suspended.
“We were hoping a top rider would become available
and we were fortunate that was the case,” trainer
Chris Waller said.
The dual Gr 1 winner has trained on particularly well
since his Gold Coast success. “Metal Bender worked
very well - I was very happy." Metal Bender is
currently the $A2.80 favourite the Doomben Cup with
TAB Sportsbet.
