Excitement Builds Around Fast 'N' Famous
(January 19 2010)
The first crop of Fast 'N' Famous have been received
with widespread acclaim and excitement is mounting at
WS as his yearlings prepare to make their Karaka debuts
at the forthcoming New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling
Sales. The Matamata farm have been delighted by the
response and the positive feedback.
"We've hosted over 100 people who have been inspecting
yearlings over the last five weeks and they have all
been suitably impressed," Mark Chittick said. "The
comments both on our Fast 'N' Famous yearlings and those
of other breeders has been terrific.
"They are medium-sized, strong yearlings and what
has really satisfied us is that they all look like runners
- that's what he was and it sums up his whole family.
It's always exciting when a stallion's first crop hits
the ring and with a strong domestic and international
buying bench at Karaka it's all looking particularly
positive."
Sizzling pace and raw power were the hallmark of Fast
'N' Famous' racing career that featured six consecutive
victories, including the Gr 3 Gilgai Stakes at Flemington.
He stopped the clock at 1.08.34 in his defeat of Gr
1 winners Dance Hero and Shadoways and in his Listed
Starlight Stakes success rattled off a closing 600 metres
in 33.67.
His explosive turn of foot required firm tracks and
a measure of his class was a narrow defeat on rain-affected
going by the internationally-performed sprinter Magnus
in the Gr 1 Galaxy Handicap. Fast 'N' Famous then finished
a game fourth, again on an off track, in the Gr 1 All-Aged
Stakes and filled a similar placing in the Gr 1 BTC
Cup before his retirement to WS in 2007 and a top-quality
book of 129 mares in his first season.
A $660,000 yearling, Fast 'N' Famous carries a mix of
the best Australasian bloodlines available being a son
of the Danehill sire sensation Redoute's Choice out
of Zalinda, a stakes-winning daughter of the champion
stallion Zabeel. Her dam was the brilliant Gr 1 Railway
Handicap winner Alynda while champion New Zealand sire
Sovereign Edition also features in the pedigree.
WS will offer four colts and two fillies by Fast 'N'
Famous in their Premier Sale draft and a further two
sons and a daughter in the Select Sale.
