Cristal Magnum Shines At Sha Tin (February
17 2010)
The well-related Cristal Magnum struck his first winning
blow in Hong Kong last night when he was successful
at Sha Tin. The WS-bred and sold Pins three-year-old
is trained by Tony Cruz and was ridden to victory over
1400 metres by Felix Coetzee.
A half-brother to Gr 2 Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders'
Stakes winner Irlanda (O'Reilly), Cristal Magnum is
out of the Centaine mare Cenphic who was a winner in
Australia. She is from a strong tail female line with
her mother Seraphic the Gr 3 winner of the Rotorua Challenge
Stakes and Gr 1 placed while third dam Torquay won the
Gr 2 Great Northern Oaks.
Cristal Magnum was a $120,000 purchase for the Hong
Kong Jockey Club from WS's 2008 Premier Sale consignment.
Victorian bloodstock agent Robert Roulston bought the
half-brother by O'Reilly out of the Matamata farm's
draft for $60,000 at Karaka earlier this month.
